Just announced: Mark your calendars for November 7th, 2009. Headlined by Doc Watson and David Holt, along with NC Banjo legend Raymond Fairchild, the famous Snuffy Jenkins Festival returns with a day-long reunion. Phil and Gaye Johnson and many other regional and local favorites will also perform during the celebration honoring the innovative banjo player, comedian, and Rutherford County native, Snuffy Jenkins.

Food and craft vendors will be on hand, and an open jam area will be provided for musicians who want to play as well as listen. The festival will also feature historical talks regarding Snuffy Jenkin’s life and significance in local and national music history, as well as discussions about Snuffy’s fellow pioneers in bluegrass and traditional music.

Rutherford County Arts Council and Isothermal Community College (ICC) have partnered to bring the festival to the ICC campus. The event is part of the ICC Foundation 2009-2010 season and is sponsored by WNCW. For details and tickets, go to snuffyjenkinsfestival.com
