The Foundation Performing Arts and Conference Center
A variety of arts and crafts represented including pottery, painting, textiles, glass,
metal, woodworking and jewelry. Special this year is fine art photography exhibit. Works by the
Guildʼs young art students also on display.

 

Inaugural Dirty Dancing Festival: Dirty Dancing Lakeside Film Screening

No one will ever forget the magic that Baby and Johnny shared on the dance floor.
Channel your inner Baby or Johnny as we celebrate and raise money for dance and the
arts at a "Dirty Dancing Festival at Lake Lure," in the film's original, breathtaking
backdrop. Whether you have two left feet or can dance circles around the best of us,
this family-friendly weekend is dance-packed from lessons and games to competitions
and entertainers.

 

Flock to the Rock
September 25 - 26
Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park
Birds flock to Chimney Rock! And we’re offering all kinds of programs to get you going
bonkers over birds, too. We’ll have guided walks with area ornithologists, opportunities
to “get up close and personal” with non-releasable birds of prey, and lots of workshops
and other fun activities. This weekend also marks the annual hawk migration over our
area when dozens, sometimes hundreds, of hawks can be seen heading to southern
wintering grounds.

 

14th Annual 2010 Vintage Tin Car Show
October 2
Rumbling Bald Resort
Get ready for the 14th annual Vintage Tin Car Show hosted by the Vintage Tin Street
Rod Association in beautiful Lake Lure, North Carolina at Rumbling Bald Resort. Show is
open to the public and part of a full day of fun activities including a street dance and
cookout. Come enjoy over 200 antiques, classics and rods in what has become our
area's premier auto show.

 

Rutherfordton Fall Festival & Tour De Pumpkin

Downtown Rutherfordton
Festival includes 5K, Tour De Pumpkin Bike Ride, arts and crafts vendor, food & music
and other activities.

 

2010 Autumn Lake Lure Arts & Crafts Festival
October 16 - 17
Lake Lure
Festival featuring the work of outstanding artists and craftspeople from a five state area.
Visitors can shop and purchase directly from the artists and craftspeople, and enjoy food
from the food court. Activities for children, entertainment, fun for the entire family.
