Summer begins with a bang in Lake Lure and the Blue Ridge Foothills with our county-wide 4th of July celebration and the fun doesn't end all summer long. Here are just a few of the endless adventures awaiting you during your next visit.
Dairy Goat Festival & Parade
May 21-22 - Spindale
Sponsored by the American Dairy Goat Association, this festival includes goat shows, a goat parade, goat beauty contest, live music and even goat cheese, wine and beer tastings. A portion of proceeds to be donated to Heifer International.
Tiki Tumbler
May 22 - Geneva Riverside Tiki Motel & Grill
Enjoy three different river races beginning at 9:30 with a kayak race at the Apple House. A “Float Your Boat” race begins next at the Chimney Rock Fire Department and the day ends with a “Ducky Derby” at the Geneva. Proceeds benefit the Lake Lure Youth Center and local Fire & Rescue departments.
Forest City Owls Baseball
McNair Field - Forest City
The Owls will host home games May through August where you can enjoy the charm of a small town game combined with the excitement of college baseball right in Forest City.
July 4th Fireworks Show
July 4 - The Beach at Lake Lure
Pull up a chair on the beach and enjoy fireworks over Lake Lure at dark.
July 4th Car Show & Fireworks
July 4 - Old Gilkey School Grounds
Celebrate with a car show and live music at the Old Gilkey School Grounds beginning at 5 p.m., with fireworks at 10 p.m.
Hot Nights and Cool Rides 19th Annual Car Show
August 20-21 - Forest City
Start your weekend with a hot night of music and dancing at Bennett Classics Car Museum and then enjoy the 500 plus car entries that will line the streets of Forest City on Saturday.
6th Annual Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad
August 26 - 29 - Lake Lure
This four-day sport and community festival includes a triathlon, Race to the Rock and five-mile run and for less serious athletes basketball, golf and pontoon boat challenge.
